HELLO, I’M ELIZABETH
Writer. Editor. Teacher. Mentor. Friend. Animal Lover.
In my world, learning is the one thing no one can take from you, which probably explains my eclectic background: degrees in economics, political science, literature, and depth psychology, a first career in IT, a second career teaching college, and a lifelong passion for inquiry.
I define education as the systematic process of becoming familiar with your ignorance. Education is exciting, not scary. I love finding out new stuff and I am devoted to my students.
I am a lifelong athlete: competitive swimming, gymnastics, martial arts, dance (performer, teacher, choreographer) hiking, mountain climbing, and cycling. I’m a terrible runner.
I am a dreamer, a renegade, a trickster, a trouble-maker, and relentlessly honest.
I know something of the underworld.
“In the realm of psyche, all authors are co-authors.”
This is my favorite sentence in The Art of Inquiry, because it expresses the collaborative nature of creativity when it is centered on the deep psyche.
Whether writing for myself or working with a client, I feel the presence of archetypal guides who are eager to be known. I welcome images every morning in meditation, smile when they show up during teaching or coaching, and feel an abiding sense of awe at their wisdom and generosity.
Dream it
You may have a complete manuscript or just a few chapters, an entire story, one lucid scene, or a character who insists on your attention. A powerful work can begin literally anywhere, so it doesn’t matter where you are. We’ll start the creative journey right there.
Create it
I bring a keen editorial to your prose, paying attention to the subtle thoughts hovering at the periphery of awareness and coaxing them onto the page in clear, elegant language. Together, we discover the depths of the work—and your depths as a thinker and writer.
